Cochlear Implant

This is a diagram of the cochlear implant itself.  Note that the Cochlea is the snail like organ just behind the inner most part of the ear canal. The electronic stimulation of the cochlear implant is inserted into the cochlea (blue wire) and you can see where the internal piece lies in the skull. This piece has a weak magnet that allows for the processor to stay attached to the electrodes in order to communicate with them and stimulate them according to complex algorithms. 

Below is a video to help understand how the inner ear actually works and how the cochlear implant is able to restore the ability to identify sounds!
